About

SAFEPARKS is  a Non-Profit residents’ initiative which is solely focused on the management and implementation of proactive public-space security in Parkhurst

Due to the nature of the cost-plus scheme, where we only acquire services that we can afford, the number of vehicles deployed is dependent on the number of contributors which the scheme has.  As at September 2017, PARKSEC and Safeparks together had 808 contributors which meant that it we are able to procure three vehicles to patrol the suburbs.  In the face of escalating crime, especially with regard to vehicle theft in Parkhurst, it is essential that the scheme get more contributors to address these trends.

SafeParks is managed by a management committee comprising volunteers whose sole qualifying criteria are that they are residents of Parkhurst and are passionate about ensuring the safety and security of our streets for our families and loved ones.

The Proactive Scheme is funded by voluntary donations from community-minded residents concerned about safety.  The funds that are raised by monthly contributions and donation to pay for security vehicles manned by well trained, security registered and armed personnel to patrol the suburbs to disrupt crime in the public space, hopefully before it happens as well as to cover the ongoing roll out of cameras at various suburb intersections. We are looking not only to installing further cameras, but also looking into the feasibility of hiring a company to supply PSIRA security personnel along 4th to replace the existing unofficial “security officials”
